According to the Denver Post, our crashing economy forced Colorado's Larimer County to cut the Sheriff's budget by 1.8 million dollars. Voters in the county refused to pass legislation to build new prisons. Now Sheriff Jim Alderson, described as a John Wayne-type, is petitioning to free prisoners and stop imprisoning people for stupid reasons: drug dealing, burglaries, and DUIs.This terrible economy which is leaving millions without work does have its positive side!
