The Tyranny of the Majority

There are some people who think that masses of people should dictate that which is good verses that which is bad. These people tend to think that they are "average joe," the norm. Of course, this is a silly notion. "Average Joe," the heteronormative, white, able-bodied, male identified, middle class, overly-privileged American is a fantasy of the fascist imagination, grounded in normalcy, the dictum of the status quo--a self-important minority. In fact, majorities cannot determine what is good--only what they are trained to perceive as "entertaining." Entertainment is the spoonful of sugar that makes our eminent environmental, economic, global destruction"go down." I prefer cultures of minorities that the majority would reject, destroy. These minority cultures contain the keys to gates of liberation. Whether in underground hiphop, experimental cinema, video art, queer culture, or attacks on notions of "truth," a patchwork of minority cultures is the blueprint of revolutionary possibility. United, minoritarian cultures will destroy the authoritarianism of capitalist aesthetics and create possibility as we move towards the future (if we are lucky...yikes!) In the meantime, let's hope some hot, naked Spanish anarchists strike the snakes of fascism and allow some obscure cultures to prevail. Fuck Authoritarianism. Fuck Freely!

Yark, Love, Valentines Day, Yeeesh!

Tonight I was headed to hang out with my sick (yet super sweet) friend Morgan when my bike got a flat. I replaced it with a spare tube I had in the basement. I was trying to use my roommates hot forks for tire levers and sadly popped the replacement tube. I scrounged around for a bit, located a patch kit and a less damaged tire, and did a quick fix em up job. When I called Morgan, she was too tired to hang and so me and Jessi, my badass rommie, spent the night lounging in bed, drinking whiskey and rum, and laughing. She took the Enneagram test from the Eneagram Institute and we spent the rest of the night trying to figure out the implications our numbers had on our sexuality, social life, organizing etc...

Tomorrow is going to be an amazing day. Last minute details will be hammered out for The Homelessness Marathon. I'm having lunch with a friend and after work am heading over to Hillary's for some sort of special Valentines Day sweetness she has planned making me feel like a total sweet, lucky sissy. Yeeesh. I'm the luckiest sissy-boy in the world!

The Last Few Months and The Next Few Weeks

The past 2 months have been filled with an incredible mixture of emotions that have virtually shut down my ability to blog as I have experienced a wide variety of love, intense friendship, friends leaving, and new folks coming to town. Next week I am traveling to Nashville to videotape the 11th annual Homelessness Marathon Radio Broadcast with Free Speech TV. I am eager to go as it will be my first live television production. I have been working hard on The Patriarchs and have laid down the last shot for the third time. The project will be concluded soon. Free Speech TV has gone through a pledge drive and I had the unique opportunity to talk with dozens of our generous donors about their support. I received a few hate calls as well. Unconventional Action Denver has finally agreed upon a Direct Action Strategy for the Democratic National Convention Protests. Friends appear to be coming from across the country. There is too much to write about and not enough time. I figured it would be worth giving you a few updates.
